Part of me–the wicked deep part–wishes that the title of this post were metaphorical. That what follows were an exploration of how to navigate the indifferent, oft-unfriendly waters of the human condition, how to cultivate a resilient and transcendent attitude of serenity.

But it’s not. It’s literal. This post is about riding a boat through kind of arguably big waves.

This past holiday weekend (it’s Ascension Day over here, for you non-Indo’s), the gentleman friend and I headed up to Pulau Macan to spend a few days at a secluded eco-resort. To describe the trip itself merits a whole new post, so for now I’ll just say it was a lovely vacation and focus on the topic at hand: the return trip.
